Continuous Inkjet Printing for Footwear Production Lines

By admin Applications

Footwear factories need clear production identification while maintaining a fast and continuous workflow. This application shows a compact touchscreen inkjet printer installed beside a footwear conveyor to print codes on shoe components as they move through the production line.

Printing without contact

Shoe parts may have curved, soft or slightly uneven surfaces. A continuous inkjet printer applies the code without touching the product, which reduces the need for mechanical contact with the material. The printhead is mounted above the conveyor and positioned close to the target area.

Depending on the factory's tracking requirements, the printed information can include a production date, batch number, workshop code, size reference or internal identification code.

Touchscreen operation for frequent message changes

A touchscreen interface allows operators to select and edit printing messages directly at the production line. This is useful when a factory changes styles, sizes or batches during the day. The operator can prepare the required message and check the print position before normal production begins.

For stable results, the product should pass the printhead at a consistent distance and direction. A photoelectric sensor can trigger each print as the shoe component reaches the correct position.

What should be tested

  • Ink adhesion on the actual footwear material
  • Drying time before the next production step
  • Character size and contrast on light or dark surfaces
  • Printhead position and protection from accidental impact
  • Conveyor speed and spacing between products

The ink must be selected according to the sole, upper or component material. A sample printing test helps confirm whether the code remains clear after handling and later processing.

DAYSJET can review product samples and production-line photos to recommend a suitable printer, ink and installation position.
