White and Green Ink CIJ Printing on Cables and Hoses

Standard dark ink may be difficult to read on dark cables or transparent industrial materials. White and colored pigment inks provide another option when the production code needs stronger contrast. These examples show light-colored printing on a dark cable and green printing on a transparent braided hose.

White ink for dark cable surfaces

Dark cable jackets require a code that remains visible against the background color. White pigment ink can create the contrast needed for product specifications, size information, dates, batch numbers and meter marks.

The cable sample in this application shows a continuous line of light-colored text along the jacket. Before production, the factory should confirm character height, print direction and repeat distance, then test adhesion on the exact cable compound.

Green ink for transparent braided hose

Transparent braided hose can be difficult to mark because black printing may blend into the internal structure or the background behind the hose. A colored ink can help the code stand out while keeping the material visible.

The green ink sample shows characters applied directly to the outer hose surface. The finished result should be checked under the lighting conditions used by operators and customers, because transparent materials can look different against light and dark backgrounds.

Pigment ink operating considerations

Pigment inks contain suspended color particles, so the printer and ink system must be designed for this type of fluid. Routine circulation, correct shutdown procedures and regular maintenance help keep the ink stable and the printhead ready for production.

• Required resistance to handling, water, oil or chemicals
